It’s a bit of a slow start, but if you hang in there, I promise, it’s worth it!
The entire network of Family Dog Mediators received some really exciting news today (Nov. 9) from Kim Brophey, and I cannot wait to share it!
If you’ve read any of my previous articles on my website (especially the most recent ones) you’ll know that I feel it’s incredibly important that we, as humans and the keepers of domestic dogs, truly recognize that they are, in fact, dogs.
And as the keepers of the pups, we should be recognizing what their innate, genetic needs are, and factor in those needs when we are trying to help our dogs live in our world.
I was never a science-y kinda girl.
But I’ve always been a dog kinda girl.
I cannot even tell you how much I have loved learning about dogs and the science behind their behaviours from the L.E.G.S.®️ Applied Ethology Course.
It has shifted the way I think about dogs, and I’m so proud to be a part of the next wave of dog professionals who are helping to educate and inform humans as much as (or even more so than) train our favourite canine companions.
All of that to say that **HERE’S the News:** on November 17th, 2024,
The Dog’s Truth will be released.
This one hour long video is sort of a condensed and easy to understand version of what the L.E.G.S. Applied Ethology course is all about!
This is big news because, although it has been available via purchase for the last few years,
it can now be available to everyone!
AND…
We’re having a party!
Ok, sort of. There’s going to be a watch party… actually, it’s a PREMIERE!
On November 17th at 8pm AST (here in Nova Scotia… which is also 7pm Eastern Daylight Time) anyone with access to YouTube can watch together, discussing what they’re learning, seeing, and feeling in real time.
WHY Should You Watch It?
Honestly, I could go on and on about why, but the bottom line is that it will simply help you understand your dog better.
If you’ve worked with me, you know that I am a big proponent of building the relationship between you and your dog. Understanding each other is a huge piece of a relationship. Knowing the why behind a behavior is more than half of the solution. When we understand, we have more compassion and are more likely to find solutions to satisfy both our human needs and our dogs canine needs.
On the Family Dog Mediation website, The Dog’s Truth page says:
Between the myths, there lies the truth
Here’s what’s included in this documentary-style course:
An entertaining explanation of The Dog’s Truth and how this can change your relationship with your dog forever.

🐾 Not sure which breed group your pup might be considered as?
Have no fear, Kim has thought of everything, including an online/app to figure out which breed your dog belongs to. It can be found at What Breed is My Dog? Take The Dog Key Canine Genetic Heritage Test to Find Out
🐾 For a more detailed explanation, Kim’s book called “Meet Your Dog” has all of the information you may need in it (I have my own copy if you’d like to discuss it together!)
🐾Pupford also wrote a quick reference, readable guide that can be found at Understanding Dog Breed Groups: Insights from “Meet Your Dog” by Kim Brophey.
